Presets

Presets are a list of predefined media sizes. If you choose a predefined media from the list, the size-fields will be filled with the appropriate values.

If you however changes these values, the preset will automatically be sat to "Custom size".

Size

These two fields are the width and height the resulting image. The values shown can be either inches, cm or pixels.

DPI

DPI (Dots per inch) is a measure of spatial printing or video dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed within the span of one linear inch (2.54 cm). The DPI value tends to correlate with image resolution, but is related only indirectly.

pixels    =    inch * dpi    =    cm     * dpi  * 2.54
cm        =    inch / 2.54   =   (pixels / dpi) / 2.54
inch      =    cm   * 2.54   =    pixels / dpi

Fit

This specifies how the image should be resized to fit the new image size. Since we always want to keep aspect, we must decide if we want to fit the height or width. The best-setting automatically size the images so it fits inside the new size.

Clip adjustment

The clip adjustment is used when Fit width or Fit height is sat. When fit width is sat you can drag the slider between top and bottom. When fit heigth is sat you can drag the slider between left and right.

Background

This is the colour that will be used at the parts that is not filled by the image.
