What are hot folders
Hot folders are folders that are monitored by Stereomerger. All new image files that are put into these folders will be read, processed and saved into a specified destination folder. Of course, Stereomerger must be running, but everything happens silently in the background.
Why
Hot folders makes it easier to incorporate Stereomerger into your workflow. You can automate more!
Limitations
It is not recursive, so no sub folders will be monitored.
Only single file stereoimages can be used: MPO or Side-by-side JPG. You can of course send mono images through as long as the script used is made for that.
There are no feedback and no logging. If something fails, it goes under the radar and it tries to continue with the next images.
How
In the main menu, you must press the Hot Folder icon to get to the hot folder configuration panel.
When starting, the panel have and add-button and a close-button.
Add hot folder
This is how simple it is to specify a hot folder:
- Press the add-button to create a new hot folder configuration. A new entry will appear in the list.
- In this ne entry, specify the source folder you wish to monitor
- Specify the script you wish to apply to the images. This can be left empty.
- Specify the destination folder where the resulting images will be saved.
- Repeat for other folders or press the close button.
Stereomerger will now start monitoring the(se) new folder(s).
No script
Note that, applying no script, will only have effects on MPO-files as they are converted into Side-by-side JPG. All other files will just be "copied", which means they will be decoded and recoded. In other words, some minor degradation of the quality will occure!
Edit hot folder
You can edit a hot folder configuration at any time. The change is executed when you close the configuration panel. However, if Stereomerger is converting files in this specific hot folder, the effect will not take place before all current files in the folder are processed.
Delete hot folder
To delete a hot folder configuration, simply press the trash can button.
